Mabuhay ! I’m Theodore Day Salonga-a foodie and proud Filipino. I love to eat, and I love to cook. But sometimes what I love most is when someone else cooks. And when that person tempts my palate with sumptuous creations, I am inspired to eat more, to cook more and to dine more.
Chef by Day is about my obsession and curiosity about food, cooking and culture. This site allows me to share part of my heritage, memories, and collection of culinary adventures and discoveries.
My hope is that this site will teach you techniques and recipes, encourage you to try new things, and inspire you to create new dishes.
I Cook, I Eat and I Celebrate Pinoy Life !!!

Greetings Chef Day!
Thanks for following me, because I LOVE your blog! I’ve added a link to your blog on my blog because I appreciate how well you explain Filipino food. (Better than mom ever did!) I do volunteer work with Chefs de Cuisine Association of San Diego (Chairman of the Board, Jay J Pastoral, CEC, AAC, is also a Filipino) as a culinary enthusiast known as “The Frugal Foodie.” Seeing your Filipino Cookbook collection inpires me to expand my library to include a section devoted to Filipino cooking! I’ll look for your facebook page to add you as a friend as well!
Sincerely,
Ms. Terree Terrenal Rola

Dear Chef Salonga:
Greetings!
I am Christian Nacorda, the Business Manager of Balintataw, an arts and culture magazine covering the CALABARZON region. The publication is a requirement for one of our courses, Communication Arts 193: Workshop (Journalism); and I would just like to hopefully ask some questions for a feature article I am currently writing entitled: “Savoring the flavors of Southern Tagalog”. Below is the list of the interview questions I am hoping you could help us with by answering. Thank you very much, sir, and I look forward to your kindest consideration. More power!
Best,
Christian Nacorda
Interview Questions:
1. What can you say about the food in the Southern Tagalog region?
2. What do you know about Southern Tagalog cuisine?
3. Where did you particularly come from (hometown/region)?
4. Do you cook Southern Tagalog dishes? If so, why or why not?
5. What do you think is unique about Southern Tagalog cuisine?
